Walking To Induce Labor
When your baby is overdue, you could try walking to induce labor. Although this is one of the simplest methods some experts believe it may work because while you walk, your baby's head will bear down on your cervix. This could help your cervix to dilate. As long as you feel OK, and you don't have any existing medical problems which mean that you should be resting, then walking to induce labor is worth a try. Take it gently, no marathons or sprinting! A calm walk around the park, or even a walk to your local shops may just kick start your labor. If you have other children ask them if they would like to go for a walk, a nice steady walk around the village will do you the world of good. Fancy shopping, a walk around your local tesco is a great way to go, or a walk up the local high street. You may see something nice for your new baby when she arrives! Walking will also help you to relax, and many women around the world believe that if you are stressed or tense, then labor just won't begin!
You could also try teaming up walking for labor, with some other methods to induce labor. My personal favorite is maternity acupressure, I have read so much positive feedback about acupressure, many people are now using it as an alternative to medical intervention for certain health problems.
It can also be used to help regulate contractions and shorten the time spent in labor, as well as being used to manage the pain of labor. As long as it's used correctly it's safe for you and your baby. If you would like to have a look at maternity acupressure click here. If acupressure doesn't appeal to you then there are many different methods that you can investigate to try and induce labor. You can find a quick overview of some of
natural methods to induce your labor here.
Any method of self inducing labor should always be discussed with your midwife or health practitioner first. Return from
