Unsure of Date of Last Period

by Abi
(manchester)

I don't keep track of my period dates and don't know when my last one was, I had some cramps about 3 weeks ago along with some bleeding which at the time I thought was my period even though it was a lot lighter and didn't last as long as usual it was also on and off. I did a test just before that and it was negative, early this week I did another test which was positive - a very faint line - repeated it 3 days later- again positive but with a much stronger line. Could you please give me some guidance as to whether that was my period and to how many weeks roughly I will be. thanks x

Hi Abi,

If you don't keep track of your period dates, then there is no way for anyone else to be able to tell how many weeks pregnant you may be. The 'light' bleed could have been a period, or it could have been implantation bleeding.

Home pregnancy tests are normally very accurate, as the line was more visible on the second test, that just shows that pregnancy hormones are stronger.

The only real way to work out how many weeks pregnant you are is to make an appointment with your doctor, if he/she can't figure it out for you, they may make an appointment for you at your local clinic for a dating scan, where the measurement of the baby will tell them how many weeks pregnant you are.

I wish you the best of luck.

Julie.
