TTC #1

by Ashley
(Louisville Ky)

Hi, My husband and I have been TTC for 3 yrs. I have PCOS and have been placed on Prometrium 100mg, Clomid 150mg days 6-10, metiformin 500mg, and this will be our 2nd attempt at IUI. My husband has above average sperm count. I have been searching for stats regarding the success rates of ovulation and pregnancy over the last 5 years but have not been successful. Do you have this information?

I look forward to hearing from you.

Thank you,
Ashley in KY

Hi Ashley,

This would be hard information to track down, there would be a lot of variations.

Do you mean stats for people who are going through a fertility treatment course? It would also depend on the country that you are in. 5 years is also quite a time span to try and track stats for.

I would probably ask the specialist at your clinic if you need to know more, they should have some statistics from their own practice.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help, and I would like to wish you the very best of luck with your treatment, and hope the IUI works.

Kind regards
Julie

Great news !!!!
by: Ashley

I'm pregnant :)

It seems that my pain is coming from those follicles which are now (good) cysts that actually help the babies grow. The cysts from my right ovary has a blood supply surrounding it and instead of that blood being pumped away from the cysts it is actually pumping into the cysts. My Dr wants to keep a close eye on me to make sure my hormone levels are increasing.

I go to the Dr Monday morning to find out my levels from Fridays blood work and then give more test. This will probably be occurring weekly if not even twice a week.

We also have our first baby ultrasound in 2 weeks :) to see if in fact there are two and to monitor their placement so we can make sure they aren't resting somewhere they don't need to be.

So I'm pregnant :) Wow, feels awkward to say that after all these years. My husband started crying when the Dr gave us the results. He's so happy and looking forward to being a daddy :)

Well, goodnight for now.

Wow Ashley - Congratulations! :)

I'm so happy for you both. You're going to be a Mom, you must feel so incredibly excited.

This is my favorite part of having this website, when people come along and keep me updated. I love hearing good news like this!

Hope all goes well with you blood tests, and when you have your scan done do let me know if there are 2 babies. Wow, I'm grinning from ear to ear over your news. I'm so very very pleased for you and your hubby.

Congrats once again to you both, and keep me updated, please :)

Best wishes
Julie.

Even better news :)
by: Ashley

So yesterday I had to go to the dr because I was cramping more than usual and the dr said something about the ovaries twisting. Well, that wasn't the case but instead I had two follicles, but now the dr said they have taken on another job and name. I can't remember . But yay so there are two eggs that I suppose were fertilized. Wow, we aren't wanting to get our hopes up we still have a week before it is good to take a test.

Fingers crossed,
Ashley

Oh Ashley, believe me... I am 'so' keeping my fingers crossed for you.

I can't imagine how you must be feeling at the minute! Hoping everything goes well for you over the next week. Take things easy and I know it's easy for me to say, but try to stay calm and stress free.

Please keep me updated, would love to hear from you after the test.

Very best wishes to you.

Still Waiting
by: Ashley

Friday's IUI went wonderful. My husband's count was up from our first IUI. He gave a sample of 32 million the first time and 49 million this time. The doctor seemed very hopeful. I'm doing my best not to get my hopes up because I know the HCG trigger shot can give you signs of pregnancy and believe I am feeling a lot of them. Cramping in my lower right side and some cramping in the left side (I hate pot-holes in the road they make it hurt more). I've also had some weird dreams lately, and last my nipples hurt. So I'm not getting excited just yet because I only have one more week to go.

Julie, I don't think it would be fair for me to leave out some interesting info about my husband and I. We both are considered legally blind. We both have had our visional impairments since birth and have overcome so much curlity especially regarding us wanting to start a family. It is sad but most of the curl thoughts and words come from family members.

The way we approach this topic is to inform those who think just because we can't see doesn't mean we can't love. We are both very independent and capable adults who work and pay taxes like every other hard working American, so why should we be limited to the stupidity of those who frown on us. (my soapbox is over now).

So there you go :) now you know kinda who you're writing too. A hard working woman who is hopeful for a child and just happens to be legally blind :)

Thank you for listening and I hope this info hasn't scared you away.

Thank you for your kind words and time,
Ashley

Hi Ashley

Thank you so much for your update.

The fact that you and your husband are considered legally blind, makes no difference to me what so ever! Why should you not be allowed to experience the joys of being parents! Everyone that has a disability, whether they can't see, hear, walk or whatever their circumstances are, if they can provide parental care for a child, why should they miss out on the unconditional love that being a parent will bring to their lives!

I honestly feel for you that your family doesn't support your wish to become parents! They should have a little more respect for your wishes, and realise that you have thought this through, and aren't just acting on a whim. Everyone is capable of loving their children, and I wish you the world of luck in the next week (and then on from there)

Please, keep me updated. I am keeping my fingers crossed for you, from the bottom of my heart!

Still sending you those positive thoughts, my very best wishes to you and your hubby.

Kind regards,
Julie.

I wanted to give you an update on our progress. We went to the doc today and I have four mature follicles. Three measuring 20-21mm and one at 15.5mm. We are every excited and are hopeful.

Our IUI is scheduled Friday :)
