sick child

Good Evening,
I am just after a bit of advice please. My 4mth old son received his immunisation injections 2 days ago, and all of a sudden has developed a fever (temperature). His head is very warm to touch while the rest of his body seems to feel normal.
Could this be associated or connected to the injections or could it be totally different.
I have noticed that he is also going through signs of teething and I believe that a temperature can be associated to this.
What would be the best remedy in this case to try and settle him and bring the temperature down.
Reply from New Baby & BeyondHi Peter,
Immunisations can cause a temperature, my daughter had a temperature after her early immunisations. The main thing to do is keep and eye on your son and make sure that his temp doesn't get too high, a digital thermometer is best, but the strip across the forehead will do just as well.
If the temperature becomes too high, or if you are worried for any other reasons, don't hesitate to go straight to your doctor.
A slight temperature can sometimes be associated with teething, but again keep your eye on how high the temp gets.
To settle your son, you could try some Calpol (paracetomol suspension, it may called another name in Australia) for babies. Check the dosage on the bottle, or ask your pharmacist to advise you on a brand and dosage.
Please remember that I am not a trained medical professional, so if you are worried you should seek advice from your doctor or health visitor.
I hope your son is feeling well again soon.
Kind regards,
Julie
