A pregnancy trimester is normally defined as around 13 weeks. So week 1-13 is the first trimester, weeks 14-27 second trimester and weeks 28-40 the third and last trimester. Before we look in more detail at the three trimesters of pregnancy,we will take a quick look at each one here. Pregnancy trimester - FirstThis trimester for some women is the hardest time of pregnancy. Your hormones will be all over the place, and mood swings may be up one minute and down the next. You may start to experience one or more pregnancy symptoms, from nausea to mild stomach cramping. The worst thing that some women complain about, is that there are no outward signs that you are pregnant and yet there is so much going on inside your body! Other people may think that you've gone raving mad - You on the other hand know that you're just pregnant!Pregnancy trimesters - SecondThis trimester should be better for you. Majority of women really start to perk up around the 12-14 week mark. Others unfortunately may suffer for a little longer (or in rare cases throughout the whole 9 months!) Some women on the other hand will have no symptoms and no 'illness' for the three trimesters of pregnancy... and if you are one of these women, count your blessings right now! This second trimester comes with a bump! If it's not noticeable yet, it soon will be. The second trimester is a good time to take a holiday while you still can, and do some of the things that you may just feel too tired for towards the end. So plan your nursery, do a little decorating. Most of all, really try to enjoy this time. One last thing, this middle period of pregnancy is when you will start to feel movement from within! - That's right the kicking starts here! Pregnancy trimesters - ThirdThis trimester is where it starts to get a little tough again. You will need to slow down, ease off on the amount of daily chores that you do, and start to conserve some energy. If you go to work, at some stage during this trimester you will start your maternity leave. This is a great time to start making sure things are ready for baby's arrival. Her sleeping arrangements should be sorted and planned in advance. Is your birth plan ready? Are your bags packed... Do you even know what to take into hospital with you? Very soon, that time will be here, and you will be a tiny little baby's mummy! Bet you can't wait! Want a closer look at the next 9 months? Return from pregnancy trimesters to pregnancy page.
