Nursery Place

My wife and I are having twins... We decided to decorate our bedrooom as a a nursery room... Like at what time during my wife's pregnancy stage can we start decorating the nursery room and buying baby stuff like clothes and baby furniture?

Reply from Julie - New baby and beyond

Hi and thanks for your question. Firstly congratulations to you and your wife on having twins - How exciting!

Decorating and buying baby things is a personal choice for each individual or couple. Some people like to wait until the first trimester is over, as there is always a higher risk of miscarriage in the first trimester. Other people jump right in and start to buy baby clothes and furniture as soon as they find out they are pregnant. Just wait until the time feels right for both of you. Talk about how you feel and work it out together.

Probably not a good idea to wait until the last minute. We did that with our first baby, the nursery wasn't even decorated by the time he arrived! Luckily we kept him in our room for the first 6 months, and did the decorating in the other room in that time.

Are you and your wife sharing the room with the babies or are you moving into another room? Will you be keeping the babies in the same room with you for the first few months? Please do check out this info: Baby sleep safe tips, It does recommend keeping a baby in your room for the first 6 months.

As for safety measures, make sure that no matter what stage in her pregnancy, that your wife is very careful. Don't let her do too much stretching and no heavy lifting. When using paints, or wallpaper pastes, make sure there is plenty of ventilation in the room.

Hope this helps, please get in touch if you need any further advice.

Kindest regards to you both,
Julie.
