Ligament Pain

by Irene
(Seychelles )

Hi!

I would like to know if there's a solution for ligament Pain?

I was admitted at the hospital under observation for one week because of the problem.

It comes whenever I stood up for long hours like waiting at the bus stop
The last time it occurred was on Saturday 09th October 2010.

My due date is on November 29th 2010.

Thanks in advance for your response & your newsletter.

Hello Irene

Ligament pain occurs when (as the uterus gets bigger) the ligaments holding the uterus stretch, becoming longer and thinner. This in turn can irritate the nerves causing pain, in some cases severe pain.

I do sympathise with you Irene, I had may fair share of ligament pain during pregnancy, and although not severe, it was enough to cause me to be extremely uncomfortable.

Do see your GP and see if he/she can prescribe any form of pain relief, but don't go taking over the counter medication as these could harm your baby.

A warm bath could help with the pain, or a warm compress, but remember not hot. Too much heat is not good for baby.

Try and move a little more slowly, taking your time with moving positions when sitting or lying. You may find that you need to rest more often than normal, this is fine, listen to your body and act accordingly. If you feel your are going to cough or sneeze, then do brace yourself, or perhaps support under your bump with your hands.

I hope this helps Irene, and the ligament pain should totally clear up after the birth of your baby.

Lots of luck,
Julie.
