I Really Would Like Some Answers... Pregnancy tests

See I do a lot of research and I always am so prepared for everything ,but sometimes this Mommy stuff just isn't answered you know? I was wondering if you can take a pregnancy test and have it come back negative, but with in a week or so start having major symptoms and no period? Everyone thinks it's in my head and nothing is wrong, but my hubby says he knows I am.

Hi

When did you take the pregnancy test? Was it before your period was due or after? And if you have missed your period how late are you?

Pregnancy tests work by detecting the human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), which is a glycoprotein that is released by the placenta.

After a fertilized egg implants into the uterus, (which doesn't happen until around 6 days after fertilization) the placenta starts to grow and release hCG, the measure of hCG produced gets stronger the further your pregnancy progresses.

A pregnancy test will detect the levels of hCG in your urine, and it's this that gives you a positive result. However, some pregnancy tests are more sensitive than others, some may show a positive before the missed period, while some may not show the positive result until you realise that you haven't got your period.

Not only that but all women will produce a different level of hCG during their pregnancy, making every woman unique. Although we know that hCG levels will rise during a pregnancy, some women will start with very low levels, this can also give a false negative reading.

My advice to you would be to buy a good quality pregnancy test, and test again (but do wait until after your period is due) Or you can always go to your doctor or health centre for a blood pregnancy test.

Hope this helps and lots of luck.
