Difficulty In Getting Pregnant?
What To Try First

If you're having difficulty in getting pregnant, there are a few things to try before the worry sets in.

One thing you must realise is that for some women, getting pregnant is not easy. Some young women and girls go around trying their hardest not to get pregnant, not realising that it's not as easy as they think.

To get pregnant sperm has to meet up with the egg. Fertilization must take place, and the egg must then journey down into the uterus and implant itself into the lining. Easy right?... Wrong! It might sound an easy procedure to happen, but even if we do everything right, health wise, timing wise, and knowledge wise, we still only have an approximately 25% chance of conceiving!

There are only a couple of days a month when you can get pregnant, so you really need to know your bodies way of telling you that you are ovulating. Have a look at some basic facts about getting pregnant.

Difficulty in getting pregnant? - Things to try

If you are finding it difficult to get pregnant, and have been trying for over 12 months, then you should probably visit your doctor. For the women that don't fancy the idea of going to the doctors just yet, then here are a few other things that you could try.

  • Eat healthily and sensibly.

  • Get in shape, being overweight decreases the chances of conception.

  • Drinks lots of water. Water flushes out impurities from your body and will help to keep it in tip top condition ready for conception.

  • Don't drink alcohol, You probably know this already but alcohol can lower your fertility rate.

  • Don't smoke, you probably know this one too, but it is very important for your fertility, and for your baby when you are pregnant.

  • Try to relax, I know there is very little proof that links stress to difficulty getting pregnant, but if your body and your mind are relaxed, then you are in a healthier state.

  • There are some vitamins and herbs that people recommend to help boost your fertility. You should really check with your doctor first and find out exactly what is safe. Red clover, Saw palmetto berries, Damiana, Zinc, and there are a few more, are all said to help increase fertility. Some of these will also help with your partners fertility too.

  • Try hypnosis. Some people swear by this.

  • Acupuncture is being used more and more as an alternative therapy for all sorts of problems these days.

Unfortunately these days, lifestyle choices can have a lot to do with the way that your body functions. Food that you eat, things that you drink, and stress can all play a part in some women having difficulty in getting pregnant. You really need to take a look at your life in a whole new way.

If you have already tried every trick that you can find and are still having no joy, then consider talking to your doctor. If you are over 35 then you should visit your doctor after 6 months of trying.

90% of couples trying to get pregnant will conceive within 2 years. I know this sounds like an awful long time, but the wait is worth it! I waited for 3 years, and then it just happened, so don't be too downhearted, just give yourself time! I wish you lots of luck.
