Chinese Gender Selection

Chinese gender selection has become much more popular since the Chinese government bought in the 'One-child' policy some years back. In an attempt to stop over crowding and over population the one child policy has led to some couples pre-planning the sex of their baby.

Chinese gender method of baby sex selection relies on a chart discovered around 700 years ago in a tomb believed to belong to Chinese nobles. The 'actual' Chinese gender selection chart supposedly now sits proudly in the Beijing institute of science.

The chart consists of months lined across the top from 1 - 12, and the mothers lunar age noted down the left hand side, from the age of 18 to 45. Your Gregorian age (that's how old we are in the western world) won't work properly and therefore you really should find someone, or somewhere that can convert your years to lunar age accordingly. I tried several sites that claimed they could convert my age to Chinese lunar age, and found myself to have at least two different lunar ages!

OK so once you are equipped with your lunar age, you can then plan your Chinese gender selection, by learning which month to try and conceive to choose the sex of your baby.

For example, when using the Chinese gender chart, if your lunar age is 25 and you wanted to conceive a girl, you would try to get pregnant in months 1, 4, 5 or 7.

If your lunar age is 34 and you wished to conceive a boy, you would try and get pregnant in months 1, 3, 11 and 12.

To use this gender chart as a method of gender selection in my opinion would be unwise. Although the chart claims to be around 93% accurate, in a poll that I am running, so far only 76% of people managed to correctly predict the gender of their baby. So really the Chinese gender selection method looks only slightly more reliable as flipping a coin!

Alternatives to the Chinese gender chart

Other methods of gender selection are available, although none of them can guarantee 100% the gender of your choice apart from the medically assisted technique of PGD. PGD isn't always allowed in some countries and the clinics that do provide this method charge thousands for it.

Ashley Spencer is becoming a household name and she has wrote a best selling e-book 'How to choose the gender of your baby' which has an acclaimed 94.8% success rate. Using information that improves your knowledge of ovulation, sperm characteristics and diet, Ashley devised a method that may up the odds of you conceiving a baby with the gender of your choice. That certainly sounds a lot more reliable than a chart with blue and pink squares! To read more about Ashley Spencer click here, or you can go straight to Ashleys site.
The Shettles method and other natural gender selection methods claim to be more effective than some medically assisted techniques and may just be worth a look. These books can be purchased from Amazon and will be delivered straight to your door.
