Breast Feeding Baby
Your Choice!

a breast feeding baby

Breast is best! - Not just a corny line, but breast feeding baby is the best thing you can do for her.

When making the choice of whether to breast feed or not, there are alot of things to take into account, including your own feelings on this once 'taboo' subject. It is worth taking a look at the breast feeding benefits though, and there are lots of them.

Breast feeding your baby will allow you to bond closely - emotionally and physically. When your breast feed your baby, you are passing on important antibodies that will help to build up baby's immune system.

Breast feeding benefits

Benefit of breast feeding for baby:

  • Protects against infections like, ear, chest, urine, gastro-intestinal.

  • Can also help to protect against Childhood diabetes, eczema, asthma, and obesity.

Benefit of breast feeding for you:

  • Can help to protect you - the mother from ovarian and breast cancer, and weaker bones as you get older.

  • If you breast feed, you are more like to lose your baby weight faster and get into those skinny jeans!

Plus one more benefit of breast feeding - It costs nothing, nada, zero!

Breast feeding baby - A personal choice

Deciding whether to breast feed your baby or not is a very personal choice that you alone as a mother can make. Let everyone else have their say if they want too, but the ultimate decision is up to you. After all, you're the one that has to do it. Can I just say though, breast feeding advice is widely available if you need it. You shouldn't ever feel forced into it by anyone, if you're not comfortable breast feeding, then your baby probably won't be either!

Breast feeding baby is also becoming more widely accepted now, with nursing bra's and clothes made specifically for feeding your baby, it can be done without showing off 'your all' to everyone else in the cafe, or even on the bus!

I always said 'NO' I'm not going to breastfeed! The minute my baby was born I changed my mind. And the feeling of your baby feeding from you is just amazing! Not weird like I always thought it would be, it just felt like the natural thing to do.

If or when you decide you want to breastfeed, here are some basic but great breastfeeding tips

There might be reasons why you can't breastfeed, so your alternative is formula feeding. Don't feel too down if you decide you can't or don't want to breast feed, formula's are being made to mimic breast milk now. Although they can't pass on alot of the antibodies etc that your baby would get from your milk, they are very close to the real thing. Click here, to learn more about formula feeding.
