Baby Development Milestone - Months 10 - 12

This is last baby development milestone marker before the first birthday. Don't worry, there is still plenty going on to write in the baby milestone book!

Baby development milestone - month 10

You are fast approaching baby's first year milestone, but there's still plenty going on.

You baby may now stand with assistance, or be cruising around the furniture unassisted. Make sure all sharp corners are covered.

You may find that she becomes upset if take away a toy that she is playing with. She will now be able to pass toys from one hand to another.

And when someone leaves the room, she may be able to wave bye bye.

Baby development milestone - month 11

Pat-a-cake can now be brought into playtime as baby is learning to clap her hands (in a fashion!) Waving bye bye could be her favourite new pastime, and your visitors will love waving back to her.

Your baby can now understand the word 'no', but this doesn't mean that she will always follow the instruction!

Mimicking all those sounds that she heard is now starting to pay off. You will soon hear some very first sounds that nearly make sense. Mama, Dada could be one of those first few.

Baby development milestone - month 12

This is the major baby milestone! (well of course they are all major)

You baby may now be 3 times the weight that she was as a newborn. She may be sleeping less as her daily naps go down to just one or two a day.

She may be learning certain commands, and able to shake her head and indicate that she doesn't want to do something.

By now your baby will be crawling, cruising around the furniture or maybe even walking unassisted. Put on some music and show her how to dance. Babies will see this as great fun because mum and dad can join in! and she just loves doing things together with you.

She won't be too keen on strangers now, anything that's unfamiliar could upset or distress her. This is normal though so don't worry too much over it. Give her plenty of comfort and reassurance.

Your baby will be watching the way that you react to certain things that she does, and certain situations. This is all teaching her that emotions are ok, Just be careful how you do react to situations. Don't forget your baby's brain is like a little sponge, just soaking up every little detail!

When you're getting your baby dressed, watch for her trying to help. Maybe putting out her arm for you to put on her cardi. Or tugging things off when she doesn't want to wear them!

Keep playing with the mirror, your baby may now know that it's herself that she sees in there. It will still be entertaining for her though.

Baby development milestone - The first year

How far you've both come. You have learned how to be a mother, and your baby has learned lots of valuable things from you.The first year may have seemed hard work at times, but you just wait for the next 12 months! Don't get me wrong, it will be full of fun and laughter too, just like the first year. You baby is now heading full steam for toddler hood!

Don't forget that the information in these pages are just rough estimates of when a baby will be doing certain things. There are no set rules for when your baby will crawl, walk and talk. If you are worried about anything to do with your baby's development, then do ask your health visitor for advice. She will be only too happy to help.
