Acupuncture And Infertility
Can It Really Help?

Acupuncture and infertility - Help is at hand.

For years now Eastern medicine has used acupuncture to help with all sorts of medical ailments. From headaches to quitting smoking, acupuncture has been seen to help. Sometimes Chinese herbs are also advised to compliment the acupuncture.

If you are going to use any herbal treatment it is always advisable to consult your GP first, especially if you are taking any other form of prescribed medication.

In parts of the East it is believed that the body stays healthy based on qi and chi. This is the energy flow through the body. Acupuncture can be used to restore the balance of this energy when it becomes unstable, causing problems and ill health.

Many western doctors are now starting to believe in the power of acupuncture as a complimentary treatment, to work alongside other forms of traditional medical treatments.

Acupuncture and infertility - What are the chances?

acupuncture and infertility Acupuncture treatment for infertility is said to work by helping to correct functional problems, such as irregular ovulation or short leutal phase. Problems such as blockages are not thought to be helped as much by acupuncture.

The true reason why acupuncture infertility treatments works is still mainly unknown. Some doctors believe that it restores blood flow to the reproductive organs, achieving harmony and stabilizing hormone levels. This in turn leads to a more regular menstrual cycle.

Infertility and acupuncture - The figures

Studies that have been carried out using acupuncture as a treatment for infertility, alongside ivf have shown a drastic increase in resulting pregnancies. Approximately 15% more pregnancies were experienced in women using ivf and acupuncture, then women who just used ivf. The miscarriage rates were also lower for women having acupuncture.

If you decide to try a course of acupuncture infertility treatment then do find a fully qualified acupuncturist to administer the treatment.
